What's New?

• Global service graph: A holistic visualization of users, infrastructure, and applications

  The global service graph feature enables you to get a holistic visualization of the clients to infrastructure to applications view. From this single-pane service graph view, as an administrator, you can:

  * Understand from which region the users are accessing the specific applications (3-tier Web apps and microservices app)

  * Visualize the infrastructure (Citrix ADC instance) view that the client request is processed

  * Understand if the issues are occurring from the client, infrastructure, or application

  * Further drill down to troubleshoot the issue

  Navigate to *Applications > Service Graphs > Global Service Graph* to view:

  * End-to-end details of all applications connected from client to back end servers.

  * All Citrix ADC instances that are connected to its respective data centers. *Note*: You can view data centers only if you have GSLB apps.

  * The client metrics information.

  * The Citrix ADC metrics information.

  * All Citrix ADC instances that have discrete applications, custom applications, and discrete microservice applications.

  * The top four low-scored applications that belong to custom apps, discrete apps, and microservices apps.

  * The metrics information for the top four low-scored virtual servers.

  * The applications (discrete apps, custom apps, and microservices apps) status such as *Critical*, *Review*, *Good*, and *Not Applicable*.

• View microservice applications in app dashboard

  In App Dashboard, you can view the microservice applications details that are configured from Citrix ADC CPX instance in the Kubernetes cluster. The App Type filter has a new K8s_Discrete option that enables you to apply filter and view the microservice application details.

• Confirm license consumption before application deployment

  When you create an application using StyleBooks, you can confirm the required license consumption before deploying the application. The confirmation message appears after you complete the steps to create an application. Click Yes to the confirmation message.The ADM allocates the required licenses to an application.

  Earlier, you had to enable the Auto licensed virtual servers option to create an application using StyleBooks. Now, you can still create an application even if the Auto licensed virtual servers option is disabled.

• View diagnostic details for partial or no data in service graph

  After you complete the required service graph configuration and add the Kubernetes cluster in Citrix ADM, the service graph starts to populate data. In some scenarios, you might observe that service graph displays either partial data or no data. Some of the possible reasons for the partial data or no data in service graph are:

  * Static route is not configured

  * Kubernetes cluster status is down

  * CPX registration is failed

  * CPX virtual servers are not licensed

  * The required analytics configuration is not set that prevents service graph to load all data

  As an administrator, you might find it difficult to analyze the reasons when you see the service graph feature displaying partial data or no data.

Hybrid Multi-Cloud

• Configure an Autoscale group application using auto-generated FQDN

  When you configure an application for the Autoscale group, you can now select auto-generated FQDN type. This option generates the domain and zone name automatically.

  If you choose user-defined FQDN type, you must specify the domain and zone name to configure an application.

• Maintain a spare node in your Autoscale group

  When you specify parameters to create an Autoscale group, you can now choose to maintain a spare node to achieve faster scale-out.

  ADM provisions a spare node before the scale-out action occurs and shuts it down. When the scale-out action occurs for the Autoscale group, the ADM starts the spare node that is already provisioned. As a result, it reduces the time taken for scale-out.

• Provision VPX instances on SDX using ADM

  You can now provision one or more ADC VPX instances on the SDX appliance by using the ADM GUI. Add a VPX instance using the ADM GUI. The ADM service implicitly deploys a VPX instance on the SDX appliance and then downloads configuration details of the instance.

• Title: Use ADM to provision Citrix ADC VPX instances on VMware ESX

  Now you can use Citrix ADM to automate deployment and management of ADC VPX instances on VMware ESX server. So, when you deploy an instance on ESX server, you can readily manage the instance from the ADM GUI.

• A new UI text for SNMP V2

  While adding an ADC instance in the ADM GUI, under SNMP, if you select SNMP V2 now the following message appears: "SNMP V3 is more secure and recommended." By default, SNMP V3 is selected.

• Change agent default password

  To ensure security of your infrastructure, now you can change the default password of an agent.

  To change the password, from the GUI, navigate to Networks > Agents and click Select Action and select Change Password.

  To meet your security requirements, now you can upload a certificate to the ADM agent by using the ADM GUI.

• Agent as a new search property

StyleBooks

• Title: Improvements to StyleBooks UI

  The StyleBooks UI is updated with the following changes:

  - The ADM GUI displays the configuration packs in the list view. Earlier, it was displayed in a tile view. With this change, you can sort StyleBook configurations by column headers. For example, you can sort configurations by last modified time.

  - When you import a StyleBook, you can now include an icon with it. In Applications > StyleBooks, the imported StyleBook appears with an icon. • Verbatim strings for special characters

  When you want to use special characters literally, without their usual interpretation, now you can use verbatim strings. In StyleBooks, you can include Citrix ADC Policy Expressions in their literal form using verbatim strings. The Policy Expressions typically contain special characters. With verbatim strings, you can avoid escaping special characters by breaking strings into substrings.

  To create a verbatim string, encapsulate a string between special characters as follows:

  {color:#ff8b00}~{{color}string{color:#ff8b00}}~{color}

  You can use verbatim strings anywhere in the StyleBook.

• Title: Customize StyleBooks filter to provide authorization for group users.

  As an administrator, you can authorize specific Stylebooks to a user of a group in the Account > User Administration > Groups page. You can now use a custom filter query to search StyleBooks. A query is a string of key-value pairs, where the keys are as follows:

  - Name

  - Namespace

  - Version

  For example: name=lb-mon OR namespace=com.citrix.adc.stylebooks OR version=1.0

  The search result lists the StyleBooks based on the specified key-value pair. The ADM provides to users of the group, access to all the StyleBooks that are filtered by your query.

• Migrate multiple virtual servers using the configuration builder

  In the StyleBooks configuration builder, you can now select multiple virtual servers of an application to migrate from the configuration source to the target instance. Earlier, you were able to select only one virtual server.

  An application configuration might contain one or more virtual servers. For example, an application can have two virtual servers, one with a secure port and another with a non-secure port. With this feature, you can select both virtual servers of the application and migrate to the target instance.

Fixed Issues

• In Gateway Insight, the required data does not appear for End Point Analysis (EPA).

• After upgrading the ADM software from version 12.1 to 13.0.58.30, even when the L7 latency monitoring feature is disabled, data gets processed and stored in the ADM database. This data leads to high disk usage.

Licensing

• The instance license status appears as "Sync-In-Progress" instead of "Managed" when the following conditions are met:

  1. The multiple licenses belong to the same edition and pool.

  2. An ADC instance checks out the license from the pool.

• When you export a report from the Pooled Capacity page, a report is rendered with no data.

Networks

• When an event age is configured in the event rule, the ADM does not clear events after the virtual server becomes active. Therefore, a mail is not sent to a user to notify the virtual server status.

StyleBooks

• The update operation on a configuration pack fails when you change binding objects.

• In the StyleBook definition, if you specify a string value to the component construct, it converts the string value to lower case.

• In an existing configuration pack, all rows in the table become identical when the following conditions are met:

  -  A new entry added to the table or existing entry is modified.

  -  In the StyleBook definition, the `type:object[]` has no unique value.

• When you use the Bundle option to import StyleBooks, the ADM GUI fails to detect the hidden files or folders. As a result, one of the following issues occurs:

  * The StyleBook import fails.

  * The imported StyleBooks might contain expressions with multiple index identifiers.

• In a configuration pack, you cannot specify a CIDR value along with an IP address. This issue occurs for the instance configuration that accepts a CIDR value.

  Example: The "trustedlearningclients" parameter of the "appfwprofile_trustedlearningclients_binding" component cannot accept a CIDR value while creating a configuration pack.

• When you try to generate a tech support file from ADM GUI (System > Diagnostics), an error message appears and the file is not generated.

• The ADM server fails to receive SNMP events from an ADC instance even if the event rule is configured.

• The event subsystem crashes if an event rule forwards a large number of SNMP traps to an external trap destination.

• All the ADC instances discovered in ADM HA deployment sometimes appear "Out Of Service" in the ADM GUI.

• When ADM collects the ADC metric information, the CPU usage becomes high because of heavy logging. With this fix, all such logs are disabled.

• In System > System Performance, the Citrix ADM CPU indicates high usage, because of the redis server taking longer time to process.

• ADM runs a NITRO command to obtain an ADC configuration for each ADC generated event. As a result, the CPU consumption becomes high in ADC. With this fix, ADM runs this command every one hour regardless of event generation.

• The ADM GUI alerts you about misconfiguration in the VLAN tag. You can ignore this alert If the VLAN tag configuration is correct on both ADC and the peer device.

Upgrade

• After you upgrade Citrix ADM 12.1 50.43 to 13.0 52.24, the ADM GUI is not accessible.

Known Issues

High Availability

• When the secondary node of a Citrix ADM high-availability pair is down, forced failover is allowed.

• Memory consumption of an ADM primary node crosses 80% because of the ADM high-availability monitoring process "mas_hb_monit".

Orchestration

• When you create a member on OpenStack Lbaas using ADM orchestration, the member creation fails on OpenStack intermittently. This issue happens when a proxy request from ADM to orchestration services times out after 30 seconds.

  With this fix, the request timeout for orchestration APIs has increased to 120 seconds.

• If you are using OpenStack Queens for LBaas workflow, the Load Balancing virtual server is not bound to Content Switching virtual server. This issue impacts the traffic.

  Workaround:

  1. Create a pool with Load Balancing virtual server.

  2. Create a listener with the pool ID.

  If you already have a listener, update the listener with the pool ID.

• The following error might appear when a user tries to access an instance:

  “Not authorized to access.”

  This error appears even if the user has permission to that instance.

  - pattern - Only violation pattern is logged

  - patternPayload - Violation pattern + 150 bytes of payload are logged

  - patternPayloadHdr - Violation pattern + 150 bytes of payload + http request headers are logged

  Based on the "VerboseLogLevel" configuration, Citrix ADM displays the detailed log expression records.

  In Bot insight, you can now view bot traffic occurred through CAPTCHA activities. In web pages, CAPTCHAs are designed to identify if the incoming traffic is from a human or an automated bot. To view the CAPTCHA activities in Citrix ADM, you must configure CAPTCHA as a bot action for IP reputation and device fingerprint detection techniques in a Citrix ADC instance.   - Captcha attempts exceeded – Denotes the maximum number of CAPTCHA attempts made after login failures

  - Captcha client muted – Denotes the number of client requests are dropped or redirected because these requests were detected as bad bots earlier with the CAPTCHA challenge

  - Human – Denotes the captcha entries performed from the human users

  - Invalid captcha response – Denotes the number of incorrect CAPTCHA response received from the bot or human, when Citrix ADC sends a CAPTCHA challenge

  From this release, the following system settings have changed:

  - All the ADM system events are enabled by default. This change helps you avoid missing out enabling any required events.

  The system notifications help you to receive alerts on email, SMS, or Slack channel for system events. To configure the system notification, click Configure Now on the warning message.

  - The diskUtilizationHigh alarm default is set to 50. The changed threshold gives you more time to address the high disk usage issue. Previously, the default threshold was 80. Navigate to System > Alarms to view and edit the system alarms.

  - Citrix ADM stops processing the Citrix ADC traffic if the disk usage reaches 80% and above. In Citrix ADM, Syslog servers, SNMP, and analytics stop working. This change is made to avoid system failures. After you resolve the disk usage issue, ADM resumes to process the ADC traffic.

  Note: After the upgrade, all previously configured settings change to the default settings; however, you can reconfigure them if needed.
