Upgrade the Citrix Secure Access client and EPA client for Windows on NetScaler Gateway
Important:
You can upgrade the Citrix Secure Access client and EPA client for Windows on NetScaler Gateway to ensure that your appliance checks for the latest firewalls and antivirus.
Upgrading the Citrix Secure Access client and EPA client for Windows eliminates the need to upgrade NetScaler Gateway solely for client updates.
The upgrade of the Citrix Secure Access client and EPA client for Windows is facilitated through the NetScaler Gateway UI from the release build 13.0-76.31 and above.
In a high availability setup, the Citrix Secure Access client and EPA client for Windows must be upgraded on both the primary and secondary nodes.
Before upgrading, ensure the upgrade files (tar.zip format) are uploaded to your local machine or NetScaler Gateway.
Even if you do not use EPA, we recommend that you update both VPN and EPA plug-in binaries together in case you choose to use the EPA functionality later.
Upgrade the clients using the NetScaler Gateway GUI
Perform the following steps on the NetScaler Gateway GUI to upgrade the clients:

Navigate to NetScaler Gateway > Update Client Components.

Under Update Client Components, click the Upgrade EPA/Client Components link.

In Choose File, select the source for the upgrade file (local or NetScaler Gateway).

Navigate to the file to select the file and click Upgrade.

After the upgrade is completed, click the Upgrade EPA/Client Components link and verify if the upgrade is successful.
Upgrade the clients using the NetScaler file system
Perform the following steps to upgrade the clients:

Download the latest version of the Citrix Secure Access client and EPA client for Windows.

Open the NetScaler file system using a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) or Secure Copy Protocol (SCP) application such as winscp.

For upgrading the Citrix Secure Access client:

Select the file
/var/netscaler/gui/vpns/scripts/vista. -
Replace the
AGEE_setup.exefile with the downloaded client file. -
Go to
/netscaler/ns_gui/vpn/. -
Open the
pluginlist.xmlfile. -
Replace the current version with the latest version and set the plug-in type as “WIN-VPN”. See the following image for reference:
Note:
Ensure to set the upgrade type to “Always” on the XML file.

Copy the updated XML file and replace it in the
/var/netscaler/gui/vpn/ directory.

For upgrading the EPA client:

Navigate to
/var/netscaler/gui/epa/scripts/win/. -
Replace the
nsepa_setup.exefile with the downloaded client file. -
Go to
/netscaler/ns_gui/vpn/. -
Open the
pluginlist.xmlfile. -
Replace the current version with the latest version and set the plug-in type as “WIN-EPA” or “WIN-EPA64” based on your requirement. See the following image for reference:

Copy the updated XML file and replace it in the
/var/netscaler/gui/vpn/directory.
