Overview
Starting with NetScaler® release 15.1, the NetScaler VPX virtual appliance is based on Linux, replacing the FreeBSD-based VPX available in release 14.1 and earlier. This first phase of the 15.1 rollout focuses on on-premises hypervisors. Future phases will expand support to public clouds.
You can deploy the NetScaler VPX instance on any of the following supported hypervisors. In-place upgrade from 14.1 (FreeBSD-based) to 15.1 (Linux-based) is supported. The instance must be on 14.1 build 72.x or later before upgrading.

Before you begin
- Confirm that the target host meets the minimum requirements listed on the hypervisor’s installation page.
- Verify hardware-assisted virtualization (Intel VT-x or AMD-V) is enabled on the host.
- Review the Limitations and deprecated features before deploying.
