Web server logging
You can use the Web server logging feature to send logs of HTTP and HTTPS requests to a client system for storage and retrieval. This feature has two components:
-
The Web log server, which runs on the NetScaler.
-
The NetScaler Web Logging (NSWL) client, which runs on the client system.
When you run the NetScaler Web Logging (NSWL) client:
-
It connects to the NetScaler.
-
The NetScaler buffers the HTTP and HTTPS request log entries before sending them to the client.
-
The client can filter the entries before storing them.
Configure web server logging
To configure web server logging, follow these steps:
-
Enable the Web logging feature on the NetScaler and configure the buffer size for temporarily storing log entries.
-
Ensure that TCP port 3011 is open between the NetScaler IP (NSIP) address and Web logging clients, especially if there is a firewall between them.
-
Install the NSWL client on the client system.
-
Add the NetScaler IP address (NSIP) to the NSWL configuration file.
-
Start the NSWL client to begin logging.
-
Customize web server logging by modifying the necessary entries in the NSWL configuration file (log.conf).
