Web App Firewall protection for NetScaler GUI endpoints

You can protect your NetScaler GUI endpoints against malicious attacks by configuring Web App Firewall protection. When Web App Firewall protection is enabled, NetScaler uses the built-in profile ns-mgmt-gui-default-appfw-profile and the associated API specification file ns-mgmt-gui-spec to protect the NetScaler GUI.

Enable Web App Firewall protection for GUI endpoints by using the CLI

At the command prompt, type:

set system parameter -wafProtection <GUI | DISABLED | DEFAULT >

Where:

  • GUI - Protects the GUI endpoints.
  • DISABLED - Web App Firewall protection is not applied to GUI.
  • DEFAULT - The default settings for Web App Firewall protection might vary across different builds. In NetScaler release 14.1 build 47.x, the Default setting means Disabled.

Enable Web App Firewall protection for GUI endpoints by using the GUI

  1. Navigate to System > Settings > Change Global System Settings.
  2. On the Configure Global System Settings Parameters page, select the preferred option from the WAF Protection field.
